Audiologists are concerned with the identification, measurement, and study of hearing and hearing impairments and with the treatment of persons with hearing disorders. Speech-language pathologists are specialists who diagnose and treat individuals with speech, language, voice, literacy, and fluency disorders.

Audiologists use various techniques to establish whether an individual is hearing impaired or not.
